With the aggravation of the global ecological crisis, the ecological protection function of forests has become increasingly prominent. The protection of forest products trade in the name of protecting forest resources is rampant. According to the relevant cross-sectional data of 61 countries in 2010 in the world, using multivariate linear regression model, the influence of timber consumption on wood consumption is analyzed based on the per-capita timber consumption as the indicator of forest resources. The factors of the empirical analysis. The results show that the relationship between the export of forest products and the consumption of timber is negative, which will help to reduce the consumption of timber. The relationship between the import of forest products and the consumption of timber is positive, but it is more advantageous to reduce the consumption of timber than using domestic timber . Through the research, it is concluded that the trade in forest products is conducive to reducing the consumption of timber and thus protecting the forests. It also points out that the international community should promote the liberalization of forest products trade, reduce the barriers to forest products trade and encourage trade in forest products.
