汉昌祥颜料号的老板梅汉峰,在抗日和解放战争期间,由在私营颜料铺当学徒、店员,到自行开业;由几十块银元做本,到腰缠10万银元;由1处经营,到5处经营;由在汉买卖,到远销上海、广州、长沙、常德、西安、河南及武汉周围的10多个县市;由单纯经商到开展社交,堪称平步青云,兴旺一时.但是由于贪图享乐,追求虚名,未能继续奋发,以致走向衰败.下面是我在梅家当学徒、店员10年间对梅家兴衰过程的了解.

However, due to greed for pleasure, the pursuit of false names, unable to continue to work hard, leading to decline. Here is my understanding of the Mei family’s apprentice, a clerk during the 10 years of the Mei family’s prosperity.
