Tempest has always been called Shakespeare’s “Last Comedy,” but the play also reflects the social reality of the turmoil, the transformation of humanism, and the disillusionment of writers with the real world. However, the “prescription” of saving the society with Christ-style emotion departs from humanism and returns to medieval ethics. Although the play has a happy ending, for Shakespeare starting from the ideal of humanism, this negative and disappointing view of social reality and humanism is undoubtedly a profound tragedy.
