Critic Li Xianting once pointed out: Chinese contemporary art has been in existence for more than 20 years since the late 1970s. From the very beginning, Chinese contemporary art faces the dual tasks of modernity and contemporary times. It not only requires the possibility of finding new languages but also faces its own culture and living environment. In the 1990s, China Pop, as well as the gaudy forms derived from the inspiration of China’s Pop, represented the reflection of some Chinese contemporary artists on China’s realities in the 1990s. Its rich Chinese visual language is not only a bearing on China’s real culture but also a visual carrier of the Chinese artist’s spirit in the 1990s.
