余日章(1882-1936)、余日宣(1890—1958)兄弟是近代中国有影响的人物,湖北蒲圻(今赤壁市)人。前者是著名的基督教领袖和社会活动家,曾担任蒋介石和宋美龄的证婚人,后者曾任职于南开、清华、沪江、复旦等诸多名校,是位不该被忽略的教育家。余日宣的祖父为农民,父亲余文卿是圣公会牧师。余日宣没有念过小学,在家由父亲教授中文,1907年毕业于武昌文华中学,后考入文华大学,获得文学学士学位。1912年夏,余日宣考入
