浙江画院是1984年成立的。但早在1956年,潘天寿就曾提议过。1961年,潘天寿作为浙江美术学院(现中国美术学院)院长时,便定下了浙江画院的领导班子:院长,潘天寿;副院长,张宗祥、吴茀之、诸乐三。潘天寿的思路非常清晰,他认定,中国美术的格局必须在美术学院——这个教学机构之外另有画院——这个创作研究机构支撑配置才能得以完备。
Zhejiang Painting Academy was established in 1984. But as early as 1956, Pan Tianshou had proposed. In 1961, as the director of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now the China Academy of Fine Arts), Pan Tianshou decided on the leadership of Zhejiang Painting Academy: Dean, Pan Tianshou; Vice President Zhang Zongxiang; Wu Jizhi; Pan Tianshou’s thinking is very clear, he believes that the pattern of Chinese art must be in the Academy of Fine Arts - in addition to this educational institution outside the painting academy - the creative research institutions to support the configuration in order to be complete.
