Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of urinary samples for predicting nutritional status of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) based on inference of daily protein and salt intake. Methods Patients with CKD (n = 40) were collected 24 hours urine samples at home. Dietitians and physicians presumed the intake of protein and salt according to the 24-hour urine samples, guide. Results Compared with pre-nutrition guidance, the protein and salt intake decreased significantly after nutrition guidance (P <0.05). Conclusion The monitoring of urine samples can help to improve the patient’s compliance with nutrition guidance and effectively delay the course of CKD patients.
