In order to inherit and carry forward the medical heritage of the motherland, the Jiangsu Provincial Health Bureau unified the concocting techniques of the Chinese medicine decoction pieces of the whole province, and compiled and published the 1980 edition of the “Guangzhou Chinese Herbal Medicine Processing Standards” (hereinafter referred to as the “Standard”) according to the traditional Chinese medicine processing technology. The “Specification” consists of three parts: general theory, theory, and appendix. In the general comment, the aims and methods of Chinese medicine concoctions are clarified. In each theory, the traditional experience of Chinese medicine concocting in our province is mainly used, and 719 kinds of Chinese medicines are collected and pressed. The medicinal part is divided into twelve categories, each of which describes its source, processing method, specifications, taste, function indication, prescription, and storage.
