The author reviewed in detail the case report that referred to any abnormality on chromosome 8 up to July 1977. Each article refers to at least one chromosome 8 aberration. In some cases, the author of the article also has personal contact to clarify or revise the published information. Only those studies using chromosome banding techniques are included in the scope of this article. A total of 277 cases were found to have loss, excess, deletion, translocation or other abnormalities on chromosome 8. Including 74 cases of congenital aneuploidy; 130 cases of acquired aneuploidy; 38 cases of congenital (gene) rearrangement; 35 cases of acquired (gene) rearrangement.
