美国电视“艾美奖”与电影“奥斯卡奖”被誉为影视界的一对姐妹奖。前者乃屏幕上的最高荣誉,后者是银幕上的无上光荣。“艾美奖”于一九四九年在纽约创办,每年举行一次,迄今为止,已举行了三十八次。第三十八届“艾美奖”经过美国几家电视网的激烈角逐,于一九八六年九月二十一日揭晓,全国广播公司喜登榜首,除囊括十一项喜剧方面的奖牌外,还夺得最佳剧集奖和特别剧集奖,总计赢得三十四项“艾美奖”。获奖剧目有《金色女郎》、《彼得大帝》、《家庭关系》、《欢乐酒店》、《天才老爹》、《爱绝不缄默》等。
