作为地域性的小型商帮,古田商帮主要经营粮食、红粬、茶叶等乡土产品,在福州甚至国内市场上具备了一定的影响力。在此基础之上,古田商帮兴修福州古田会馆,历时十余年,至今保存完整。古田会馆留存的三通碑刻,是研究近代闽江流域商业发展的重要史料。根据历年经费支出细目,我们可以归纳出会馆建造所经历的三个阶段;又由于会馆的募资主要采取抽厘的方式,则可以从年度捐输金额大致推测出古田商帮各行业在清末民初的经营态势,从中可以窥见古田商帮与福州城市商业发展的互动关系。但是,捐输额度的多寡,也会受到会馆建设进程的影响,不可简单地将其作为商业经营态势的反映。
