钩藤性味甘微寒,具有清热平肝、息风定惊之功能。临床上主要用于治疗头痛眩晕、感冒夹惊、惊痫抽搐、妊娠子痫、高血压等症,一般都是随诸药入煎。清代凌奂在《本草害利》中对钩藤的煎法谈道:“久煎则无力。俟它药煎就,方入钩藤,三沸即也,颇得力也”。现代科学研究也证明这一点,钩藤不可久煎,煮20分钟以上,药物有效成份及降压有效成份即破坏,故宜后下。
