李开先《改定元贤传奇》做为现存最早的明刊元人杂剧集,其重要的文献价值自不待言。傅惜华《元代杂剧全目》(1957)虽曾涉及此书,但长期以来,学术界多以为其独藏于台湾故宫博物院,所以不能不望洋兴叹。孙楷第、徐朔方等学者都细致比勘过现存各种元刊及明抄、明刊本元人杂剧,但因不能亲见《改定元贤传奇》,终引为憾事。而令人不解的是,多年以来尚未见有台湾学者论及《改定元贤传奇》,《改定元贤传奇》藏于台湾或竟仅仅属于 Li Kaixian “to change the Legend of Yuan Xian” as the earliest existing Ming Dynasty miscellaneous episodes, its important value of the documents goes without saying.
