The buckling analysis of the steel frame considering the influence of temperature is carried out to evaluate the buckling length of the column under fire. The resulting buckling length is compared to the value given in the fire protection section of EC3 (Section 1.2), which is used for the design of a supported frame column in a fire situation. EC3 Section 1.2 does not give the design criteria for fire protection for unsupported frame buckling lengths. Therefore, the study gives the buckling length of the column in unsupported steel structures. The results of mechanical resistance (using simple model calculation) and the estimated buckling length for several different frames in fire cases are compared with those of the high-level model.
