Toxoplasma gondii isolates from immunocompromised patients (including AIDS patients) are currently considered to be different in inducing host immune system activity. The virulence of the same genotype Toxoplasma gondii infected with different hosts and the disease symptoms also vary. The authors analyzed the virulence of virulent Toxoplasma gondii isolates (PTN) and Me49 (PLK) and the ability to induce host immune activity, and studied their relationship with Toxoplasma gondii genotypes.
