Japanese invaders captured Nanjing， China’s capital at the time， on December 13， 1937 and began a rampage that lasted more than a month. Over 300，000 unarmed Chinese soldiers and civilians were murdered.
December 13 was designated as National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims in February 2014.
