According to the forecast of the European Community, by the mid-1990s, GSM standard digital mobile communications network almost all over Europe. By then, GSM network coverage will be extended to the world. In recent years, GSM network develops rapidly in European countries, 1993 will be the fastest growing year. In March 1993, Belgium, France, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Finland and Switzerland respectively ended the GSM network test and put them into use one after another. Currently, some major cities in Spain and Portugal have started using the GSM network. In April 1993, Ireland and Luxembourg opened the GSM network. The Netherlands plans to use the GSM network in 1993 as well. Greece issued two GSM network operating licenses at the end of 1992.
