In December 2015, one sputum sample of foreign crew collected from Yangshan Port in Shanghai was detected by Mycobacterium kansasii (M.kansasii) after acid-fast staining by sputum smear, isolation and culture of mycobacteria. This paper reports on its epidemiological investigation, clinical examination, laboratory testing and port disposal methods, and discusses the significance of M.kansasii in port health quarantine. 1 Case Information In December 2015, during a quarantine inspection at the Yangshan Port in Shanghai, a 53-year-old male Croatian crew member complained of cough for more than 2 months and requested medical treatment.
