This article focuses on the experience of using kidney transplants with bodies over 60 years of age and live kidneys. The author conducted 577 kidney transplantations between 1980 and 1988 with 101 donors living, of whom 25 were aged 60 to 78 years (mean, 67 years). Recipients average age of 34 years (13 to 43 years old). After an average of 4.6 years follow-up. The incidence of acute tubular necrosis after transplantation was 16%, and the one-year survival rates of patients and transplant recipients were 92% and 89%, respectively. Only 2 patients died within 1 year after surgery. In 1983 and 1988, a total of 420 kidney transplants were performed and 384 cadaveric donors, of whom 21 (60 to 67 years, mean 61.7 years) were over 60 years of age. The average age of recipients was 48.1 years and the mean follow-up was 3.4 years. The incidence of acute tubular necrosis was 52%, and only 1 patient had no functional graft. One-year survival of patients and transplant kidneys
