林州市位于晋冀豫三省交汇处太行山区,属暖温带大陆性季风气候区,四季分明,水温适宜。境内有淇、淅、洹、漳四条河流,大中型水库5座(盘石头水库、南谷洞水库、弓上水库、石门水库、马家岩水库),小型Ⅰ、Ⅱ类水库70余座,池塘133.3ha,宜渔水域滩涂1000ha。改革开放以来,水产养殖业发展迅速。1986年建成淇河鲫鱼场进行的淇河鲫鱼人工养殖;1988年利用电厂余热水进行罗非鱼温流水养殖;1992年引进
