沙棘果有很高的经济价值,而天然林和一般人工林果实产量很低,为获得较高的果实产量,应建立沙棘种植园。1.选地整地:沙棘种植园要选择较肥沃的平地或缓坡地,最好有灌溉条件,土壤以沙壤土或壤土为好。选地后每100～300亩划分1个林班,在林班内设置道路、水渠等。建园前要平整土地,缓坡地最好修成梯田,整地要在栽植前一年进行,深度30～40厘米。2.培育苗木:沙棘雌雄异株,种子繁殖的苗木,雌雄株比例约各占50％,且苗期雌雄株无明显特征来区别,因此,应采用无性繁殖的方法培育健壮的苗木。3、株行距及配置:种植园的合理株行距为2～2.5×4米。沙棘行最好是南北向,以保证充足的光照和均匀的温度。雌雄株最佳配置图式是:在迎风面设一条防护林带,林带内第一行全部栽植雄株,以下是两行雌株、一行雌雄株混合行(每隔3株雌株栽1株雄株)。每亩可栽雌株61株,雄株5株。
