Wt1, originally thought to be a tumor suppressor gene, is now found to play a role in organogenesis and pathophysiological processes that affect not only the kidneys but also the heart’s development. Epicardial cells undergo the conversion of epithelial-mesenchymal cells into precursor cells of the cardiovascular system and then continue to differentiate into cardiomyocytes, coronary artery cells, etc. This process plays an important role in heart development, whereas Wt1 regulates This important conversion process. This review focuses on the mechanisms by which Wt1 regulates cardiac development by regulating the Wnt / β-catenin signaling pathway and the retinoic acid signaling pathway. A thorough understanding of the process and molecular mechanisms by which Wt1 regulates the production of cardiovascular precursor cells by EMT is of great help in the study of normal cardiac development and cardiac regeneration.
