故宫旧称紫禁城,建成于1424年,作为明清两代的皇宫,曾先后居住过24位皇帝。故宫占地72公顷(72万平方米),有90多个院落、980多个房屋及近万个房间。故宫依地形而建,北高南低,故宫北门神武门地平标高46.05米,南门午门地平标高44.28米,差约2米。其排水设施充分利用这一地形特点而建。这套排水系统的总特点,是将故宫内的雨水汇流入几条地下干渠,再汇流于内金水
Forbidden City, formerly known as the Forbidden City, built in 1424, as the palace of Ming and Qing dynasties, has lived in 24 emperors. The Forbidden City covers an area of 72 hectares (720,000 square meters), with more than 90 courtyards, more than 980 houses and nearly 10,000 rooms. The Forbidden City built according to the terrain, North High South, the North Gate of the Forbidden City ground elevation of 46.05 meters, South Gate Meridian elevation of 44.28 meters, about 2 meters. Its drainage facilities take full advantage of this terrain features built.
