美国经济伦理学家里查德·T·德·乔治坚持道德原理多元论的立场,提出了作为理性分析工具的经济伦理学观念,其合理之处在于:肯定道德生活中的民主和自由,注重伦理学的实际应用;其缺陷在于:不利于从比较强的规范定向的意义上组织社会的道德生活,为社会成员提供共同的道德观念和理想。从而,在当代社会的条件下,就确立一种比较合理的伦理学观念而言,我们既要看到伦理学的“方法”和“工具”性质的突出,反对权威主义和独断论;同时又要强调伦理学的世界观理论性质,反对伦理相对主义和激进的道德多元论,把坚持本民族的道德定向和对其他文明的道德的尊重和宽容结合起来,把各社会成员的道德差异和整个社会的共同道德和理想结合起来。
