现代化生产车间、办公大楼以及生活居室常常需保持恒温恒湿,因此空调系统已被广泛采用。为了保持相对湿度为50～60％的适宜环境,增湿器是必不可少的装置。它将水份随气流导入室内,空气和水都是循环使用的。如不注意防护,增湿器可被微生物污染,于是这些微生物及其产物可通过增湿器吹入环境造成污染,人体吹入就可造成以发热和呼吸道症状为主的类似于流感样症状的增湿器综合症。
