In the 1970s, Glasgow UK and electrical and utility companies developed important new products. Both rely primarily on sales in the US medical services market. Gallusu’s products are anti-ulcer drugs that mimic competitive products and have little innovation. Electric and utility service scanners are the biggest advances in radiation diagnostics since the discovery of X-rays. Grasau thus became one of the outstanding companies in Europe, and the electrical and utility service companies were auctioned at the lowest price due to the loss of the scanner business. This comparison illustrates one key point of technological advancement: Innovation cannot automatically bring about a competitive advantage. The same situation occurs in all countries. British scientists are among the best in the world, but they are measured by any measure of world competitiveness.
