马克思认为 ,衡量社会进步的根本尺度有生产力尺度和人的发展尺度 ;从社会发展的总过程、总趋势来说 ,两种尺度是一致的 ,但从社会发展的具体阶段、具体过程来说 ,二者既有一致性 ,又有不一致性 ,不断发展的社会实践是两种尺度统一起来的基础 ;在社会实践中要兼顾两种尺度、两种发展。马克思两种尺度的思想给新世纪的人们指出了社会进步的方向 ,启示人们要处理好人与科技、人与自然、人与社会、人与人之间的关系 ,在新的时代背景下避免人的片面化、机械化和退化 ,力争人的发展的全面化
