世界各国现代化发展的进程表明,城镇化(它与城市化在内涵上是一致的)是工业化发展的客观要求,是衡量一个国家或地区社会经济发展水平的重要标志,是现代化发展的必经之路。我国进行现代化建设,必须大力推进城镇化进程。城镇文化建设作为城镇建设的重要组成部分,对城镇化发展起着重要的作用。一方面,文化建设是城镇化的内在要求。可以说,城镇化的过程就是人们的经济、政治、文化等社会活动,为节约时间向特定空间集聚的过程,它涉及社会生活的方方面面,是社会生活全方位的发展变化,城镇化的发展必然要求文化建设。另一方面,文化建设能推动城镇化发展。文化建设通过马克思主义和初级阶段的共同理想把全国人民紧紧团结起来,充分调动他们的积极性,共同推动现代化和城镇化。此外,文化作为一种新兴产业,还可以创造出经济价值,正逐步成为城镇经济发展的重要推动力。
