为扩大港口经济总量,发挥整体优势,带动全市港口行业的结构调整,盐城港在原港埠实业总公司的基础上,于1994年12月13日成立了港口企业集团。这在江苏省78个港口中还是第一家。自此,盐城港形成了“大企业、多法人;大公司,小企业”的新格局。 近几年,盐城港加大改革力度,采取了一系列的有效措施,先后创办了全省第一家跨行业、跨所有制由港口办的物资交易市场,开设了全市第一家保税仓库,组建了全市第一家大件起重联合体,成立了地方口岸国际集化运输和外轮代理公司。1994年,港埠总公司购置16辆集卡运输车,与上海天宏集装箱储运有限公司联营,计划1995年营收可达440万元,利润100万元。
