别号,是指人名和字以外的自称。历代文人墨客都喜爱从文章诗句中,寻找一富有寓意之词作为自己的别号。明清之際,一些人追求别号成风,常把古书中令人难解之词作为自己的别号,以示风雅。然而在此风盛行时,自认为风雅不俗的清高宗弘历却极其讨厌别号。雍正十年(1732年),清世宗胤祯曾赐给弘历“长春居士”的别号,但是弘历却极少以此别号来署款题字。弘历为何如此讳忌别号呢? 原来,弘历认为清王朝是其祖先率领八旗将士骑马征战而建立起来的,那么要巩固这个靠在马上打下来的江山,就必须保持满清的习俗,“习國书(清语),学骑射”。因而弘历
