For the first time, NCR recently demonstrated the possibility of upgrading Windows NT to an 8-processor server operating system with its Intel-based WorldMark 4300 mid-range server. The demo WorldMark 4300 runs an enterprise application built around SAP’s popular R / 3 enterprise applications. The 8-processor version of the WorldMark 4300 server is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of this year, but current customers will only get 4-processor versions of this server. The WorldMark 4300 8 processor server uses NCR’s OctaSCALE design. OctaSCALE can connect two 4-processor boards together using standard components from Intel Corporation to build
