The authors freeze dried cotton worm adults in distilled water made of homogenate, and sonicated. After centrifugation at 78,000 xg, the supernatant was lyophilized as crude antigen for water immersion (LCA). Purified antigen (LPA f 20) was isolated by two-step gel plate electrofocusing.
