近代以后,城市环境造就的新兴民俗开始出现,我们姑且称之为“城市的生活技术传承”。城市的兴衰变化十分显著,其传承母体较为分散,故城市中的民俗呈各自发展的状态,而这正是城市民俗学要研究的问题。若是把E.F.舒马赫提倡的“另一种技术”运用到城市民俗学中,或能摸索出其独特的生活方式(生活技术)的存在状态。地域振兴运动中同样存在问题,且城市及其周边地区中家庭暴力等事件多有发生。以及,近年来出现了老年人希望“猝死”的现象,从中能看出其背后的高科技社会的混乱等因素。作为经世济民之学,当下民俗学究竟发挥着多大的作用?城市越是人造化,人们就越是追求自然的生活环境及节奏,面对此类社会性要求,民俗学应随时准备做出回答。
