杨小年,四十出头,个子不高,块头不大,貌不惊人,话语不多。乍一看,平凡得不能再平凡,怎么都与“专家”联系不上来。但就是这样一个平凡人,十几年如一日,在田间地头穿梭、在试验室忙碌、在烟农家策烟叶生产经。就是这样一个平凡人,在育种道路上,一路前行一路歌,相继参与《优质多抗烤烟新品种选育及配套技术研究》、《湖南中烟基地特色烤烟品种筛选及配套技术研究》等重大项目,先后培育出烤烟新品种湘烟2号、湘烟4号。而这两个品种的成功选育,对湖南中烟技术创新上水平和烟叶原料保障体系上水平都具有重要意义。
