Sperqin created the image criticism in the 20th century Shakespeare commentary, which had a great impact on Shakespearean studies. She not only combs the images of Shakespearean drama in detail, but also points out that these images have two major functions: the first one reflects the author’s feelings and interests and even the author’s life experiences; the second one provides the background for drama, Drama atmosphere and emotion. The former is borne by the general imagery of the Shakespearean drama, and the latter by the dominant image in every play. Spojin’s research on the second feature of the image has far-reaching implications. However, due to the limitations of research methods and their own concepts, the conclusions of Speaking are often superficial.
