向日葵各器官在不同生育期对氮、磷、钾营养素的吸收和运转规律是不同的。7对叶前,氮、磷营养素的吸收中心均为叶片。7对叶后,根、茎、叶中的氮、磷素含量迅速降低,以满足葵盘生长的需要。成熟期子实中的氮、磷素含量最高,分别占全株含量的5469%和7633%;7对叶前钾素吸收中心为茎秆,7对叶后,各器官中钾含量向葵盘中转送,到成熟期葵盘中钾含量达到最高值,而子实中钾含量却很低,分别占全株的2274%和664%。
