We all know that a lot of scrap rubber shaft seals at low temperatures, some or all of the rubber elasticity caused by the loss. In some cases, elastic loss can result in brittle failure of the cup seal lip and irreversible loss of sealing ability, and in other cases can result in temporary loss of sealing performance.
