旧中国西方势力在上海租界的商品倾销需要文化诱导,随租界道路修筑而在租界空间中被营造、撒播的日常生活文化是其主要内容。面对租界日常生活文化,近代上海作家群体产生了三种不同应对方式:以晚清遗老与“五四”新文学传统激进派为代表的一类人,逡巡于租界之外,不能融入也无法远离;以“新感觉派”为代表的一类人则身心放纵、乐在其中;以张爱玲、沈从文为代表的一类人,则将租界日常生活视作人生平常现实,看似被动地顺应租界文化,其实是从自身真切日常生活体验出发,在恶劣的时代气候中构筑起了自己的人性小天地。在旧上海租界文学中,比之“新感觉派”等作家群体,张爱玲、沈从文等对于租界的文学书写尤其能凸显租界日常生活文化的复杂与辩证特征。

In the old Shanghai concession literature, writers such as Zhang Ailing and Shen Congwen, especially those like “New Sensationist,” especially those in the concession, can highlight the complex and dialectical features of the daily life and culture of the concession.
