锭桿所用的材料,普通为高炭钢或镍络合金钢二种;因其化学成份相差极大,热处理过程亦完全不同兹将二者分述于后:一、高炭钢(A)炭钢成份因锭桿所需性能略高,故化学成份限制亦较严,一般含硫与磷成份之和不能超过0.07%,其所含炭素约在0.9%至1%间。(B)炭钢缺点因炭钢淬火需用较激烈冷却剂如冷水,才能达到希望的硬度,所以淬火时极易弯
