The number of liver resections for elderly patients with hepatocellular carcinoma has also increased due to prolonged life expectancy, but the precise benefits are not fully understood. The authors analyzed the surgical resection of 103 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma aged 70 or older in the second surgical department of Shinshu University School of Medicine in Japan. The effect was compared with the same period of 70 years old in 283 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma. Results (a) Clinical phenomena The average age of the elderly group was 73 years old (70-81).
