唐喀,亦写作“唐卡”是藏语的音译。唐卡本意有两种,一种是平坦的意思,一种是指政府的诏令。后来逐渐寅变为专指一种特殊的卷轴画。它是一种喇嘛教的卷轴画,内容以佛像,佛教故事为主,也有少数历史传说题材。多绘于布底之上,四周镶以锦缎,织绵和丝绣的,但较少。形制大小不一,最大的一幅也有长约三十丈,每年藏历二月三十日展出,从布达拉宫第九层楼垂至山脚。一般的唐卡二、三尺长,挂于室内供奉,唐卡的绘画
