There has been no significant change in the type of molybdenum used, with the largest proportion of ferro-alloys used in the manufacture of alloy steel, cast iron, rolled steel, etc., accounting for about 83%. In Japan, the proportion used to make superalloys and molybdenum metal products is small, while the use as a steel additive is as high as 90%. The use of molybdenum as an alloying element such as alloy steel and cast iron is well known and will not be described in this article. Only a brief overview of the current state of the art of molybdenum metal and its use is given. Only an overview of new uses for industrial chemicals and molybdenum disulphide lubricants .
