1947年11月石家庄解放,华北大地连成一片。1948年5月,中共中央决定:晋冀鲁豫中央局和晋察冀中央局合并为中共中央华北局。《晋察冀日报》与晋冀鲁豫《人民日报》合并,6月15日继续出版的《人民日报》改为中共中央华北局机关报。8月华北人民政府成立。全国解放战争形势进入了战略决战阶段。 在山西战场上,继运城、临汾解放后,1948年7月晋中战役已胜利结束,取得了辉煌战果。紧接着我军三大兵团(十八、十九、二十)和晋中军区部队,在徐向前同志统一指挥下挥戈北上,团团包围了大原孤城,计划迅速拔掉这个硬钉子,解放山西省会——太原重镇。1948年10月初,揭开了先扫外围,摧毁敌人防御体系,然后攻城的攻坚战役。 与此同时,即在1948年秋,党政军民以及各系统、各行业等大批干部工人等,云集榆次县境内,准备进城接管,开展城市工作。 山西日报社的工作班子就在这种形势下,由中共华北局宣传部和人民日报社紧急予以组建。

Early October 1948, opened the first sweep of the periphery, destroy the enemy defensive system, and then siege of the fortified battle. In the meantime, in the autumn of 1948, a large number of cadres and workers, including the party, government, military and people as well as various systems and industries, gathered in Yuci County and were ready to take over the city and carry out urban work. In this situation, Shanxi Daily’s work team was formed urgently by Propaganda Department of North China Bureau of CPC and People’s Daily.
