Objective To evaluate the value of CT angiography (CTA) in the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular disease. Methods Sixty patients with cerebrovascular disease underwent CTA, including 31 cases of intracranial aneurysm, 15 cases of cerebrovascular malformations, 4 cases of cerebral ischemic disease and 10 cases of spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage. All patients underwent digital subtraction angiography (DSA) during the same period except for 7 cases and were compared with CTA results. Results The results of 52 CTAs were consistent with DSA. 1 case of multiple aneurysms, CTA missing an aneurysm. Seven patients with DSA in our hospital had their CTA results surgically or clinically confirmed. CTA is superior to DSA in depicting the three-dimensional structure of cerebral blood vessels and the adjacent bone structure. CTA is a simple, rapid, noninvasive and reliable method for the diagnosis of cerebrovascular disease. It is particularly suitable for surgical planning, intraoperative positioning and long-term series of follow-up.
