运用民族志资料分析纳西族的社会民俗、经济生活民俗以及民间信仰习俗、游艺民俗等与东巴教之间的关系,得出以下观点:东巴教保存和记录了很多纳西族的传统民俗,70多种东巴教仪式和卷帙浩繁的东巴经堪称一部纳西族民俗大全,大量记载和反映在东巴教典籍、仪式中的民俗是东巴教中最为重要的本土文化因素,是它赖以产生和发展的源头和土壤。东巴教和纳西族民俗之间的关系是一种相依共存,互相影响其发展变化的关系,纳西民俗培育和丰富了东巴教的内容,而东巴教又反过来促成了纳西民俗的多样性。
