张厉生,字少武,原名维新,字星舟,河北省乐亭县人,1901年6月17日(清光绪二十七年五月初二)生。和李大钊同乡。张家世代务农,其父张绳武弃农经商,常远赴关外的吉林、长春及辽宁公主岭一带做生意,目睹日本侵略者在中国土地上的暴行,极为愤慨,常有激愤言词和行为,因而招致日本人忌恨,一度被抓进监狱,倍尝苦楚。张厉生幼年时常听到其父对他讲述这些事情,并在心里留下极深刻印象。张厉生8岁入私塾,在其父的严厉督责下,养成了勤奋学习、一丝不苟的习惯。1914年,
