1958年,大兴安岭林区的采种工作,在总路线的光辉照耀下,由于各级党政的正确领导和全体职工的一致努力,并在兴安落叶松种子普遍丰收的有利条件下,获得空前未有的成绩,全年共采集落叶松球果2,134,971公斤,超额完成了任务。从1958年11月到1959年6月,各林业局的种子调制工作先后均已结束,共调制出落叶松纯种56,289.75公斤,平均出种率为2.6%。在种子调制过程中,库都尔、乌尔其汗、西尼气等林业局,分别以20—22公斤球果出1公斤纯种的优异成绩,创造出最新的出种纪录。其他林业局在种子调制中,也初步摸索和积累了一些经验。
