党员素质在党的建设中的地位作用决定了加强社会主义市场经济条件下农村党员队伍建设的极端重要性。但其整体结构、思想状况、作用发挥仍不尽如人意。究其原因既有国际共运处于低潮而产生消极影响的因素，有国内客观环境的交互影响、教育管理乏力的因素，也有党员自律不够的因素。出路在于：党组织要坚持发展党员标准，提升教育，严格管理；党员个体要通过学习、实践党内生活锻炼、自我约束来改造、提高自身。
The role of party members in party building determines the vital importance of building the contingent of party members in rural areas under the conditions of a socialist market economy. However, its overall structure, ideological status and role play are still unsatisfactory. The reasons are not only the factors that have a negative impact at low ebb, the interactive influence of the objective environment in the country, the weak education management, but also the insufficient self-discipline of party members. The way out lies in: party organizations should uphold the standard of developing party members, enhance education and strictly administer them; and individual party members must reform themselves and improve themselves through studying and practicing inner-party life and exercising self-restraint.
