Objective To investigate the plasma chemerin level in Kazak (Kazakh) patients and its correlation with blood pressure, blood lipid, overweight, obesity and insulin resistance. Methods A total of 165 Kazakh nationality people in Manas region of Xinjiang were selected as the research object, including 85 cases of hypertension group and 80 cases of healthy control group. The blood pressure, height, body weight, waist circumference and hip circumference were measured. Fasting venous blood was taken and fasting blood glucose, lipids and fasting insulin were measured. Plasma chemerin levels were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Results There was no significant difference in gender and age between the two groups (P> 0.05). The level of chemerin in hypertension group was significantly higher than that in control group [(29.8 ± 4.3) vs (26.2 ± 4.3) ng / L, P <0.01]. The correlation between the levels of chemerin and systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, triglyceride, waist circumference Body mass index, waist-hip ratio and insulin resistance index (r = 0.324,0.262,0.277,0.248,0.286,0.220,0.249, all P <0.05). Multivariate linear stepwise regression analysis showed that systolic blood pressure, triglyceride and body mass index were independent factors affecting plasma chemerin level (P <0.05). Conclusions The level of chemerin in plasma is increased in patients with hypertension, and the level of chemerin in plasma is related to blood pressure, lipids, overweight and insulin resistance. Chemerin may play a role in the occurrence and development of hypertension in Kazakhs.
