For any advanced air force, destroying enemy air defenses has always been one of the most crucial tasks. All modern notions of “emptiness” assume that the capabilities of the enemy’s surface-to-air missile systems have been suppressed to such an extent as to ensure the security of the coalition across operational airspace.
